# Start Migration

> Copy a source bucket to a destination bucket

The **Start Migration** view copies objects from a source bucket to a destination bucket. It shows a source file tree on wide screens after you select the source.

1. Open **Start Migration**.
2. Select the source **Connection**, then the source **Bucket**.
3. Select the destination **Connection**, then choose an existing destination bucket or **Create new bucket** and enter its name.
4. Choose **Start Migration** and wait for the operation result.
5. Open the destination in [Providers](/application/providers.md) and verify its objects.

The backend copies object content and creates the destination bucket when requested and supported. The current UI does not expose a durable job queue or per-object progress. An error may occur partway through a transfer; check the destination before retrying. A same-named object at the destination may be overwritten.
