# Manage Scaleway Object Storage

> Create and manage buckets and objects in Scaleway

## Create and use a bucket

In the Scaleway console, open **Object Storage**, choose **Create bucket**, select a region, and set a name and privacy settings. You can configure encryption, versioning, and object lock during creation or later in bucket settings.

Open a bucket to upload, download, replace, or delete objects. Deleting a bucket also deletes its objects; the console deletion request may take time to complete. Check versions and retention settings before confirming.

## Change settings and manage objects

Open the bucket's **Bucket settings** in the Scaleway console to manage supported options such as visibility, encryption, versioning, lifecycle, and policies. The bucket name and region are set at creation and cannot be edited later.

From the bucket's **Files** view, upload, download, replace, or delete objects. Versioning or object lock can affect whether a deletion is permanent or reversible; check those settings before changing data.

See Scaleway's guides for [creating a bucket](https://www.scaleway.com/en/docs/object-storage/how-to/create-a-bucket/), [deleting a bucket](https://www.scaleway.com/en/docs/object-storage/how-to/delete-a-bucket/), and [Object Storage how-tos](https://www.scaleway.com/en/docs/object-storage/how-to/).

## Use it with Merops

Connect this provider with the [Merops connection guide](/providers/scaleway/connect.md). Merops currently supports object storage operations across its connected providers. The provider console remains the place to configure provider-specific settings and to carry out management actions that Merops does not expose.

Before deleting a bucket or object, verify the account, region, and target. Some deletions are permanent or remove all contained data.
