Merops connects to Scaleway Object Storage using an API access key and secret key. The API key inherits the permissions of its IAM user or application. During creation, choose the preferred Project that contains the buckets Merops should access; S3-compatible requests use this project by default.

Create an API key

  1. In the Scaleway Console, open the account menu and choose IAM & API keys.
  2. Open API keys and choose Generate API key.
  3. Choose an IAM user or application as the key’s bearer. Make sure its IAM policies grant the required Object Storage permissions for the target project.
  4. Enable the Object Storage option and select the preferred Project that contains your buckets.
  5. Generate the key and securely copy both the access key and secret key. Scaleway displays the secret key only once.

Prepare the credential file

Create a local plain-text file such as scaleway-credentials.txt. Replace the placeholders with the generated key values. Set the default region to the region containing your buckets; it is optional and defaults to fr-par.
Merops also accepts these values in YAML format, with or without the SCW_ prefix.

Import the credentials in Merops

  1. In Merops, open Providers and choose Add provider.
  2. Select Scaleway, import the text or YAML file, and enter a display name if requested.
  3. Open the new connection and check that its Object Storage resources load.
Credential upload accepts a non-empty file up to 10 MiB. A successful import confirms that Merops parsed the file; it does not prove that the IAM identity can perform every operation. Check permissions guidance. For current console steps, see Scaleway’s guides to creating API keys and using IAM API keys with Object Storage.
